The leading 25 temporary staffing businesses in Germany grew by an average of 13.5 per cent in 2022, a significantly faster rate than the overall German economy. The staffing service providers simultaneously expanded their temporary staffing pools by 4.2 per cent. The demand for flexible staffing thus remains at a high level, despite the uncertain economic situation. The differing revenue and staffing rates point to the impact of wages on the figures, due in part to an increase in the minimum wage in October 2022.
The temporary staffing market was again characterised by a number of acquisitions in the 2022 financial year. The momentum continues: In the first months of 2023, the acquisitions of Pluss by House of HR and of Runtime by Synergie were announced, among others.
Market leader Randstad increased its revenues by 6.3 per cent. With earnings of €2,014.0 million, it returned to 2019 levels. Second-placed Adecco recorded the strongest growth of the twenty-five companies in the List in absolute terms, with takings up 35.7 per cent. Its revenues of €1,651.0 million (+€434.0 million) saw the company earn more than twice as much as third-placed Persona Service (2022: €781.8 million, +5.7 %).
